"We are based on a Chicago-style format and it has a touch of jazz because a couple of these guys come from the jazz field," says Wally "Sweet Daddy" Greaney of the band Sweet Daddy Cool Breeze. "It's a boogying blues band in a Chicago style."

The internationally known band features Greaney on harmonica, vocals and saxophone, along with German guitarist Uwe Herr, bassist Joe Fonda and drummer Pete Perfido. The group is based in the New York City area and formed in 1988. They currently play throughout New England and into Pa., as well as overseas. In the decade they've been together, the band members have shared the stage with numerous well-known blues acts, including Buddy Guy and KoKo Taylor, and they have recorded with musicians such as Matt "Guitar" Murphy and Albert Collins.

The band's show includes originals as well as cover material from artists such as Willie Dixon, T. Bone Walker, Muddy Waters and Duke Ellington. Greaney says audiences can "expect a lot of energy and quality musicianship" from the group. "We don't just stand there. We keep things moving...We're entertaining. I've seen plenty of bands out there that just come and do the music. They do it well, but they're boring to watch."

Noting that the band chose its name to reflect the style of music played, Greaney says he was also influenced by a man he met years ago. "I met this very old truck driver...He was a jokester, a storyteller. When he'd get to the end of his story or the punchline of his joke, he would jump back and say, 'Sweet Daddy Cool Breeze is in town!' and when I heard that name, it just stuck in my mind. When we were looking for a name for the band, it came to mind."
