Vocalist/bassist Jim Yockey admits that the guys of Dixie Wrecked are crazy entertainers. But they're having so much fun. Working their way on-stage only seven months ago, the party rock/alternative quartet already has their unique act on the road, complete with costumes and TV show theme covers.
"Our show is definitely about the entertainment factor," agrees Yockey. "We have so much fun together, and that rolls right into the crowd. We're rather new, so I don't know if it'll continue, but it's working well. ... We really do some goofy things and stage antics that people probably don't want to even attempt to do." Rounding out the band are Ios Patver on guitar and vocals, Steve Manning on lead vocals, and Don Carr on drums.
Those stage antics go hand-in-hand with "weird costumes like pimp get-ups, robes, and goofy hats," according to Yockey, as well as 15-minute medleys stuffed with TV themes, originals, and covers from Godsmack, Creed, Blondie, even disco tunes.
Although Dixie Wrecked may be new to Lancaster's music scene, the lineup isn't. A few from the crew danced back-and-forth between other local bands, including Tribal Vision, but Yockey claims, "We knew we were missing our little order we had here, so we got back together." He adds that they have "lots of experience with stage and studio. We'd like to make it, but we're getting older. We wouldn't mind getting into the bigger circuit like we once were with Ground Zero."
